Highlands and Islands, Day 1 - Travel to Oban

Last Sunday, my friends Amie, Laurie, and I began our tour of the highlands and islands by driving to Oban on the west coast of Scotland. The trip took longer than expected due to an accident which closed down the road and caused us to take a 2-hour detour around Loch Lomond. The plus side was we got to see some beautiful scenery, including silver waterfalls, gorgeous lochs, and amazing hills.

We finally got to Oban about 10 minutes after the last ferry left for the Isle of Mull, so we ended up spending the night in Oban rather than continuing on to the islands. This allowed us to spend a relaxing evening in Oban, to walk along the harbour and hike up to the top of the coliseum and enjoy the magnificent views of the islands in the twilight hours.
I'll post more pics of the other 5 days of travel later. Gotta go home now...
