Dubai, Part 4 - Lebanese Barbeque

After riding the camel, we headed into the camp. There was a large platform set up in the middle of the camp, with short tables set up all around it, and cushions set around each of the tables for us to recline on as we ate.
There were small booth-type areas set up around the perimeter of the camp. There was one where we could make sand designs in bottles (but we didn't), one where we got henna tattoos, one where we could dress up in the traditional Arabic dress (but it was WAY too hot to put on more clothes), one area where we could hold a falcon, one where we could smoke the Arabic tobacco (again, we didn't), and another that was set up as a bar serving cold drinks (this was the area we frequented most often, as it was insanely hot in the desert and they had ice-cold soft drinks and water). We also ate a Lebanese barbeque of lamb and chicken kabobs, rice, tomato and cucumber salad, pita bread, hummos, and other traditional Arabic foods.

While we were eating, a bellydancer performed on the raised platform in the middle of the camp. She was very impressive. She also pulled up several members of the audience to dance with her, which was quite funny.

The bellydancing was the final part of the safari. It was so much fun and the food was great, but it was also nice to get back to the city, take a nice cool shower, and rinse all that SAND away. According to Joanna, the shower was FULL of sand after we were finished!

I'm so impressed with all these different foods you've been eating. I'll say you've expanded your horizons in more than one way this year. (I won't mention the lamb to Abigail.)
